I see lots of Twitter haters on Twitter due to the big network they have over there.

I've been watching several MDs and public health people make a go at Mastodon only to return to Twitter in spite of antivax abuse due to better engagement.

Same thing with Facebook. I don't know anyone who likes it but people use it for their running club or to check on pappy and meemaw or the neighborhood watch.

@peatbog I'll concede that if your livelihood depends on it, it may be difficult to leave.

Not forced by law but simply because all the people you want to chat with are on a particular platform and the effort involved in getting everyone to move somewhere else is overwhelming.

@peatbog Lots of people didn't find it too problematic in the end to leave Twitter for Mastodon and other networks.

@Popehat There is definitely a segment of the population that doesn't know how to deal with people they come across who don't think in a like manner and who may be nasty.

Anyone who thinks Mastodon is an echo chamber should try expressing an opinion on quote tweets (please don't reply with your opinion on quote tweets, I'm exhausted from discussing this already).

Hi Chris, I’m having trouble getting this to work. I can reply to my own posts from Twitter but not to the manually-syndicated comment with the reply URL. I see you have your comments syndicated as well. Does threading the comment via Twitter require the parent also be syndicated? If so, how are you doing this? I have the syndication links plugin installed but the list of comment syndications doesn’t appear to be an out-of-the-box feature.
