I’m lucky I didn’t do a New Year’s resolution to write one blog post a day, or else I’d be failing…badly.

I’ve been trying to do one a day, and it’s just been happening. A lot of it comes down to simple laziness. I don’t really want to talk about my day; I’d rather talk about some kind of topic. So, a lot of my entries turn into political rants of some sort. I’d like to diversify, however, since I know that everybody is not into politics, so I’m going to try.

On that note, I really need to get Dymersion Creative going, since I haven’t done much yet. Luckily, I may have a solution for the short term. Last semester, I did a lot of scripts for my scriptwriting class. I think if I post one of those a day, I can last a little about about two weeks, but then I’ll have to actually get writing again.

But, the other reasons are mostly academic. I do a lot with video production, so I’m always out shooting stuff, editing, or setting up for/directing a newscast. Then one Saturday a month, I help out at and directing (and now producing) a game show. Besides the club, I’m taking 17 credits, five actual classes, and then one independent study (which hasn’t even really started yet) and a practicum (see my club activities starting the second sentence). I also have to do a fair amount of homework for my classes. Then, I also help run a website, which just takes up even more of my time. Still, I tend to just surf around, rather than do anything productive. I could probably do ten entries a day, but I’ll just try to do one for now.

One main blog entry a day, and one Dymersion Creative writing a week shall be my goal. I had other ideas for this site, but I think I’ll hold off for now on those. Sorry to the few who may have been interested.

That’s it for now. Quota filled.

I have just had an epiphany: it is time for a new template. Probably at best, anything I do will be a medium to major reworking of what I already have. I like simple layout, hence this one. However, I think it could do with a freshening up, and maybe some more graphics. Not a lot, but some more. If you have any ideas, let me know.

By the way, my last entry made number 100. I’m so proud of myself because I never though I’d get there. And what an entry to do for number 100. Nice and content-filled.

Well, in order to try and combat the spam problem. I’ve signed up for Akismet, the anti-spam service from the same guys who gave us WordPress. I’m hoping it’ll work better than MT’s system. So far, so good, but only time will tell. So, if you submit a comment, and it doesn’t get approved after a day or two, shoot me an email.

Also, time for the stats update! Not much change since last time, it’d appear. But, I was baffled at this search term: “statute of limitations on statutory rape – IL” What exactly on my blog has anything to do with that? If you know, please, let me know. The oddest network location of this week is, “Crest Foods Co.” More people surfing on the job? Tsk tsk. Ok, I’m no angel.

Anyway, time for bed.

Well, it appears that Google Analytics has finally begun to track Dymersion. Here’s some interesting first-week stats I’ve found:

Search Terms
Well, nothing too outrageous, but here’s a couple I found interesting: camera poses (2 visitors), profiling (1 visitor), and humorous independence day speeches (1 visitor). Camera poses are obviously my entries about Molly. Seems that someone read my entry about racial profiling in airports. Then there’s the first one, which obviously relates to my Independence Day 2006 series. How someone got to my site while trying to find speeches that are funny is beyond me.

Sources of Traffic
Well, nothing here was all too surprising. Most were direct, all of which were probably me…turns out the filter I had in Analytics wasn’t working. So, I’ve updated it for my real IP. It’ll stop everyone in the house from being counted, but I’m not too worried about that, since they probably don’t visit, anyway. Most visits were from invisionpower.com, which is not surprising, especially if many are me. A couple were from my school’s Facebook site, though with the revelation of the unworking filter, maybe not so good.

It’s a little easier to determine which visits are not mine when I view them from a geographical perspective…seven visits from the UK, probably some of the people at invisionpower.com, five from Canada, again, probably from invisionpower.com or Invisionize, and even a couple from India and Thailand of all places.

Analytics also tracks the ISP people hail from…35 from Cox Communications are probably all mine, there’s also a healthy number from Comast, AOL, and SBC. But, here’s the interesting part…a couple visits were from the U.S. House of Representatives Info Systems department, and from NASA. You guys working on the job? 😉

Any way, just a quick update. As the site goes on, I intend to keep an eye, and see where people are coming from, and why they might be coming here. To all those who have visited Dymersion, thank you! And thank you for fully reinforcing my faith in the site. Feel free to comment!

When I created Dymersion, I wanted a place where I could do more than just rant about the latest political topic, or what was happening in the world. I wanted the website to also be a hub of all my creative works. Somewhere where I could express myself in the area I think I do best (besides video): writing.

Well, I’m to announce that in the next week, I’ll be presenting a new department for the site: Dymersion Creative. This will be a blog, set up much like this one, where I can place all the works I consider to be creative in nature. The first of these works is a sort of experiment I’ve always wanted to try. No more about it quite yet, but I’ll fill in all the details when I introduce it. I quite like the idea, and I hope it pans out.

Goodnight, and happy celebrating to all those who won their primaries.

Well, for the past few hours I’ve been working on an upgrade to the software running Dymersion. There’s a few cool things in this versions:

1) Widgets – These allow you me to move around things on the sidebar with absurd ease.
2) Tags – Who doesn’t love tags. I contemplated whether to keep the categories on the main page and in the entries, but I will…for now. I may in the future switch over to tags completely.

The transition has been relatively painless, and I encourage my fellow Movable Type users to upgrade!
