In his open letter to SixApart, Paul Scrivens writes about his recent transition from the Movable Type blogging platform to that of WordPress. According to Scrivens, his jump to another software came for two reasons, which are both related. The first was that he lost data from his database twice during his tenure using MT. The second reason, and possibly leading to the first as a result, is that he feels that now Six Apart is a corporate entity, they have become distant from the community that made them into what they are.

I’ve noticed that similar feelings have been expressed in other areas of the web quite apart from blogging companies.

If you’re reading this, then you’re at the new domain, dymersion.com. There was nothing wrong with the old one, I just decided to make the domain a little easier to remember if you are thinking of this site – if anyone actually thinks of this site. Not sure what I’m going to do with the old. I may point it toward a site that is just about me professionally, the job held by “About Dymersion” at the moment.

I’ll be blogging on something a little later, so hurrah for some real content.

Well, it’s official, folks. Exams are done, and I can (prematurely but confidently) proclaim myself as a Junior! Funny story, though:

It’s raining out…a lot. Well, as anyone knows, when it gets wet out, it gets slippery. Perhaps you can see where this is going…The classroom in which my second exam took place is one of the few lecture halls on campus. Well, the steps in this room don’t are not entirely slip proof. So, I get in there, and start going down the steps, when I slip. I’m about halfway down at this point. Luckily, I just kinda fell downward, instead of both downward and forward, which might have quite prevented this entry from showing up as I would likely be in a hospital right now.

I’m not sure what’s worse about the whole situation, though. That I slipped, or that I was indifferent about the whole thing. I didn’t get scared, and my heart didn’t speed up, as might happen normally. I’m going to have to blame my lack of sleep on the indifference. It was an indifference that nearly caused me to fall down a flight of stairs, though. Thank the body for involuntary reflexes, which probably prevented that.

Anybody ever have a retro moment? I have, because suddenly I have the urge (and it is somewhat painful to admit this at 19) to find and watch some old Power Rangers episodes. That show rocked! I watched up until the end of Lost Galaxy, and then I lost interest. Or maybe it was something about becoming a High School Freshman that made being a PR fan “uncool.” I don’t know…I’ve just been reading up on it for the past hour or so, and was interested to learn that the character of Tommy Oliver (the evil green…then later good green…then later white…then later red…ranger) comes back in the 2004 series. Anyway, I digres…

Yes, so going to sleep late and waking up at 4 or 5pm this weekend hasn’t really been a good thing for me. This is because it’s Monday, and I need my wits about me to study for my two cumulative exams that I have tomorrow. This should be an interesting day…

It’s not something you’ll find on the mainstream sources since they’re only going to announce anything that’s rock solid, but I was on the website TalkLeft earlier, which linked to an article from truthout.org:

Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald spent more than half a day Friday at the offices of Patton Boggs, the law firm representing Karl Rove.

During the course of that meeting, Fitzgerald served attorneys for former Deputy White House Chief of Staff Karl Rove with an indictment charging the embattled White House official with perjury and lying to investigators related to his role in the CIA leak case, and instructed one of the attorneys to tell Rove that he has 24 hours to get his affairs in order, high level sources with direct knowledge of the meeting said Saturday morning.

Robert Luskin, Rove’s attorney, did not return a call for comment. Sources said Fitzgerald was in Washington, DC, Friday and met with Luskin for about 15 hours to go over the charges against Rove, which include perjury and lying to investigators about how and when Rove discovered that Valerie Plame Wilson was a covert CIA operative and whether he shared that information with reporters, sources with direct knowledge of the meeting said.

Obviously, an indictment doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily be proven guilty of anything, but it’s not exactly going to help Bush, especially after Libby’s indictment. It’ll be interesting to what, if anything, comes of this speculation.

In other news, which has come to mainstream sources, Cheney’s notes about Wilson’s op-ed article from a few years ago are being looked at:

Friday’s filing includes a photocopy of the article with Cheney’s notes written in the margins. According to the photocopy, Cheney scribbled four questions at the top of the page:

“Have they done this sort of thing before? Send an Amb. to answer a question? Do we ordinarily send people out pro bono to work for us? Or did his wife send him on a junket?”

The annotations support the notion that Wilson’s op-ed piece drew the attention of Cheney and Libby, and “acutely focused” their attention on Wilson’s assertions “and on responding to those assertions,” the filing stated.

Long time since I wrote anything last. My excuse is a combination of being busy and being lazy. It’s been almost three weeks, so I won’t bother trying to give a day-by-day…I’ll just give some highlights. Went to Foxwoods for my grandmother’s 70th birthday two Sundays ago. There was some good food, and after that, we played Bingo. Didn’t win anything, but had a good time nonetheless.

Yes, so I’m definitely switching one photo a day to one photo a week, seeing as how I couldn’t get it done after last Wednesday. Seriously, though, there’s not that much interesting stuff around here to justify one photo a day. That and I don’t leave campus that much during the week. I’m also scrapping the separate photoblog idea, and will just post it here. There’ll be some exceptions, like after the upcoming Greece trip in January.

So, this weekend was decent. Went out to east at 99 yesterday (haven’t done this in some time), and today had dinner at my aunt’s new place. For an apartment, it’s pretty nice. The food was good too!

Yet another busy week ahead, this one possibly more busy than most. A good chunk of my day tomorrow and Tuesday (that time not devoted to class or work) will spent getting my final class story done. It’s the final one, so I want it to be the best.

Then on Wednesday, it’s Earth Day. What does that mean for me? More video work. This time, though, it’s part of a project I’m doing for my Earth Science class. I’m supposed to be more of a producer rather than a techie on this project (that part being held by someone I know who’s doing it for another professor), but undoubtedly I’ll end up doing some of the technical work.

Thursday will bring…you guessed it, more video work. This Thursday, though, is different. In addition to the usual newscast, I’m taking part in producing an episode of Eastern Expedition. This is in conjunction with the Drama Society, and for the volunteerathon week. Hey, three hours community service, which will bring me one above the requirement? No complaints here.

Then Friday will finally be a day of rest. Hurray!

Hey. Been busy as heck lately. I’ve broken my goal on one picture a day, I know. Should all go well, though, there will be one tomorrow night! It’s one I’ve wanted to get for about a week.

Anyway, just wanted to make a small comment about the weather. The mere fact that I could go outside right now, at 3:17am, and feel sort of comfortable in a spring jacket at this time of year is a bit unnerving. It’s 54 degrees; it’s usually in the mid 30s at least.

I don’t really expect it to happen again for a while.
