Collar
I have decided that, like a dog, I think I need a collar. And not just any collar, but an electronic collar. One in which someone could activate to give me a short, quick zap any time I started getting close to a site with spoilers on it.
I seriously don’t know what entices me to go to them, but they usually are to my detriment, since I know what’s going to happen, and it doesn’t come as big a surprise. I ruined Star Wars Episode III for myself by reading too many spoilers. I knew Jack and Claire were half-siblings before we were told.  And I just came close to possibly finding out who the Final Five Cylons are going to be. Luckily, I was able to restrain myself from looking to closely, but not before seeing a sentence discussing the possibility of a character being one. It’s ridiculous, and I only have myself to blame.
So, to recap, an electric dog collar may stop me from reading TV and movie spoilers. The end.
It’s Game on…on Eastern Expedition!
Anybody interesting in checking out what I’m always talking about in these blog entries, check out this video. For some reason, it’s down right now, but it should be up at some point.
Script Update
Done a little more work to the script, and I now have a completed preliminary product. I’m going to pass it around to a few people, and get their suggestions. I think it might be a little too wordy, but I’m trying to cut up the monologues with little skits, that I hope are funny.
I’ll keep you all informed.
Holy Crap!

UUUUUrrrgggg!
Wow. This episode of 24 moved really slow until the last five minutes. I think it’s clear that Palmer is out of the picture for a while, given the previews, but what does this mean???!!! Is he dead or isn’t he? I think it’s about 5x more likely that Assad is dead though. He was closest to the podium, and even sort of had time to block Palmer a little before it went off. Somehow, I don’t think the message is getting out to the extremists. To be expected…we can’t have peace, or the producers will be forced to pick another religion to be that of the bad guys next season.
And how about that Logan. Seems to be repentent, if he isn’t lying. Looks like he’s not too successful talking to the Russian diplomat given the previews, so Jack will have to do things his way. I definitely don’t think Logan wants to be house arrested anymore, but we’ll have to wait to next week to see if he’s truely turned a new leaf.
In other television, but not 24-related news, I’ve started work on the script for the idea I mentioned a few posts ago. I’m trying to make it half serious, and half funny. I don’t want it to be just perceived as a rant from a guy who could be doing other stuff. So, I’ve added in a few elements to hopeful add some humor to it. There’s a film festival coming up in April at my school, and I’d like to submit the completed product to that. We shall see.
In Dymersion news, I was finally able to get the blogroll skinned correctly, so I’ll be using it. Finally, a blogroll that works with dynamic publishing. Thank you, WordPress. That’s it!
Sacrifice for a Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience
So, I’m sacrificing a little bit in order to go Greece…television! Ok, so it’s not such a big deal, I suppose, but here’s what’s starting while I’m gone…
24! It’s starting Sunday, January 14th, and continuing January 15th. I don’t get back until the 16th! Why must the fates condemn me as such?! I’ll also probably be missing a couple Miamis, and maybe a Without a Trace. I don’t seem to be missing a CSI: Las Vegas (one will play before I leave, though), which is good.
Battlestar Galactica and Heroes don’t start back up until I’m back at Eastern. Oh, and can someone explain to me why SciFi now has me choosing between Battlestar Galactica and Without a Trace? Luckily, my dorm room’s VCR can tape one show whilst I watch another. Too bad, WaT…you’re getting watched at 11 on Sundays when you come back, instead of 10.
Lots of Stuff
Multiple categories, for multiple topics.
Election 2006 is over, at least for Connecticut. I’ll admit I didn’t foresee Courtney pulling through like he did. What I did see is the candidate not having much of a mandate, though I foresaw it for Simmons instead. Every other predication was pretty much spot on, though. Everyone else won who I thought was going to win. So, with that, this election is put to rest.
TV time. There’s been some awesome stuff going on. Battlestar Galactica continues to impress. I like how, even though Adama and Tigh’s relationship has been strained, he still came to Adama’s rescue when Bulldog was trying to kill him. By the end of the episode, even though Tigh has still said he doesn’t want to retake the XO position, they seem to at least be patching things up. They both now have issues that are more or less out in the open, and they now have to deal with them, though Adama is able to put his past him more than Tigh can.
Heroes meanwhile, is quickly becoming my favorite above Lost. It is getting the big picture answers out faster, which Lost really needs to do. Anyway, I’ll admit I didn’t get the connection with the erroneous fire savior report and Sylar’s incompetence. At least the other cheerleader didn’t get her brain taken out. You all catch that telekinetic knife of his? It slices, it dices, it cuts skulls open!
Also, I was a little angry at Nathan for his actions in this episode, though I do understand the reasoning. He views his power as an impediment to his election. He’s not going to get many cookie points if he claims to fly. I think eventually, he’s going to come around, and, like Claire’s friend says, “embrace his inner freak.” Until then, though, he’s going to do everything he can to stay out of this whole mess. Mohinder seems to finally be a true believer. I don’t know if he has powers, but perhaps it won’t matter. Maybe he’ll be the guy to explain to everyone why things are the way they are. The go to guy for the information. Who knows.
Jessica’s getting dangerous, and Niki, though while worried, seems to view it as a necessary evil. This isn’t going to turn out good, I think. Her son (the technopath) and D.L. are on the run, but not for long I fear. I can’t quite seem to get D.L.’s intentions. We now know he was set up (by Jessica), so he might be good. I think they’ll get back together in some form or another.
Mr. Bennett. I thought he was going to be an evil dude at first, but now I think he’s more comparable to the rogue NID agents from Stargate. He’s not bad, per se, but he’ll do what it takes to get the job done. Though, not as arrogant. Still, I foresee him becoming an ally. He seems to have connections, which can only be useful to the heroes. Eden is a bit of an enigma. If you haven’t guessed yet, her power is that of command (like Saruman). Read the online comic for more. I don’t know where she’s going yet. She seems to be good, and also seems to be less “do whatever it takes” than her boss, Mr. Bennett. As for Haitian dude, he needs to talk some more.
Now on to personal life. I’m doing well. I MET Bill Nye last Thursday. What can be much better than that. He’s a very nice guy, and was extremely easy to work with for the interview. His lecture was great, too. Had a test on Friday, and I think I did fairly well on it. Was extremely tired, though, since I was up until 2am the previous night editing this video for Friday morning. Basically, what happened, is that it was Guidance Counselor Day. So, my friend Adam got his own segment to himself. We showed the video about Eastern Expedition, and then they played a mini-version of the game itself with three guidance counselors.
I came home on Friday afternoon, intending to skip the one class that was being held on Monday. Then I read my school email on Tuesday, where I discovered he canceled class anyway, since he was sick. Go figure. Not much to talk about for the first couple days, but I did go to Manchester vs. East Hartford tonight. Manchester…didn’t do well. Led by 18 for the first quarter or so, but then lost by 25 in the end.
A little bit of bad news family wise. My grandmother has to get her aortic valve replaced, and also needs bypass surgery because of clogged arteries. She’s already had a hip replaced and is diabetic and very much overweight (she’s tried to take it off, to no avail, apparently), which undoubtedly has contributed to this reality. She’s recently been having trouble breathing, and after a number of tests, this was found to be the problem. On Sunday, she’s going in for surgery at St. Francis Hospital. Please keep her in your thoughts.
Have a good Thanksgiving, and weekend.
Prank Calling the Ghost Hunters?
Tonight’s Sci-Fi Ghost Hunters episode is live at the Stanley Hotel in Colorado. Well, being live, a group of them just kept getting calls in the room they’re in. Clearly, some other patron is watching from another room and is trying to be a wise-ass. Haha. Just thought it was funny.
CNN Wants us to Lose in Iraq?
Yes, says Michelle Malkin, a Fox News analyst.
I’m watching Bill O’Reilly, looking to see what he was analyzing today. Well, one story he was talking about was that of a clip CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 showed of a sniper committing shootings. The clip was originally shown on Al Jazeera. Well, as Mr. O’Reilly often does, he brought on analyst Malkin and analyst Kirsten Powers to talk about the situation.
Malkin basically lambasted CNN, suggesting they wanted the U.S.A. to loose the war in Iraq, and that showing a clip such as this only proved it. Even O’Reilly didn’t agree with her. He refused to believe the likes of Larry King and others wanted the U.S. to loose the war. I obviously have to agree. While I also think they should have been a little smarter in their choice of footage, I don’t think they meant any harm by it.
So, this is yet another place where me and O’Reilly agree. Clearly, he’s not as conservative as he’s made out to be, and I think I’m right in saying that O’Reilly is no fan of CNN sometimes.
I think O’Reilly should have included it in his Most Ridiculous Item of the Day.
